Eels forward Shaun Lane has announced his retirement from the NRL effective immediately, the club has announced.
Lane hasn’t played since taking an indefinite break from the game back in April to weigh up his future.

He only played in five games this season and will pull the curtain on his career after 186 NRL games.
Lane joined the Eels in 2019, and played in 138 games for the club, including a grand final against Penrith in 2022.
The 30-year-old will remain at the club in another capacity, accepting a role in the Elite Pathways program.
“I’ve absolutely loved my time playing for the Eels,” Lane said via a club-issued statement.
“This club means a lot to me, and I’m incredibly grateful for the experiences I’ve had and the relationships I’ve built here.
I’m really thankful to the fans for their unwavering support throughout my career. It’s meant the world to me.”
