The mid-season transfer deadline (June 30) is four days away. While there isn’t expected to be much movement there could be one or two players who exit their club for another.

SELWYN COBBO
Selwyn Cobbo’s Broncos exit is confirmed at the end of the 2026 season after he quit the club, but the longer the star outside back sits in Queensland Cup the more likely an immediate move becomes — and there’s two clubs keen on his signature.
Cobbo had always been regarded a key part of the club’s future success but the 23-year-old has fallen out of favour with coach Michael Maguire this season.
His long-term future has been in the headlines since last November when he became a free agent but speculation heated up when he was dropped ahead of Round 14.
Maguire referenced “standards” and “expectations” when asked about Cobbo’s demotion, however there’s also rumours the six-time Queensland Origin representative could just simply be unhappy at Red Hill.
Adding fuel to the fire is the fact the Broncos reportedly offered a one-year extension to Cobbo but it’s worth $300,000 — half of what he’s earning now.
They’ve also recently re-signed star Kotoni Staggs on a three-year extension after months of reports that the club wouldn’t be able to afford to keep both and so would have to invest in one of Staggs or Cobbo.
The Broncos also announced this week the signing of Storm outside back Grant Anderson and the extension of Josiah Karapani — the latter of whom has overtaken Cobbo as a first-choice winger.
As for where Cobbo lands, that’s still up in the air but given his obvious talent, suitors will want to move quickly.
He met with the Dragons a couple of weeks ago, but they’ve pulled out of the race, while the Cowboys made an attempt to poach him immediately.
The Broncos did initially reject the Cowboys’ attempt to sign Cobbo before the June 30 deadline, but we all know how quickly things can change in the NRL.
TALLYN DA SILVA
He might only have 21 NRL games to his name, but make no mistake Tallyn Da Silva is a player in demand.
The rising hooker was given permission by the Wests Tigers to talk to rival clubs about an immediate move and has no shortage of interest.
Da Silva is reportedly set to meet with the Cowboys, Eels, Sea Eagles and Knights this week ahead of the June 30 deadline.
The 20-year-old attended renowned rugby league nursery Westfield Sports High alongside his best mate and former Tigers teammate Lachlan Galvin. The pair also won the Harold Matthews premiership in 2022 with the Western Suburbs Magpies.
Da Silva made his NRL debut at just 18-years old and is considered a future star of the game, but is stuck behind one of the best No.9s in the competition in Api Koroisau.
The Cowboys are on the lookout for a hooker given Reece Robson is leaving for the Roosters next season, while the Knights could also do with some depth after Jayden Brailey departs.
Manly, however, are fairly well-stocked at hooker with Lachlan Croker and Jake Simpkin signed until the end of next season (Gordon Chan Kum Tong does not have a deal beyond this year).
It’s a similar situation at the Eels too with Brendan Hands and Ryley Smith both locked in until the end of next season. The latter has become the club’s first-choice hooker and is still only 22-years old, but coach Jason Ryles’ mind is clearly still open when it comes to his long-term No.9 if he wants to meet Da Silva.

TOBY SEXTON
If this list was written six weeks ago there’s no way Toby Sexton’s name would’ve been on it. But that just goes to show how quickly a narrative can change in rugby league.
Sexton has done an admirable job as the Bulldogs’ halfback this year, helping them to become the competition leaders after 16 rounds. But the signing of Lachlan Galvin is expected to have implications on Sexton’s future.
The 24-year-old is without a deal for 2026 and the fact the Bulldogs haven’t tried to extend him yet suggests the writing is on the wall for Sexton.
Commentary around Sexton’s future spiked after the Bulldogs’ King’s Birthday win over the Eels in which he was moved to hooker in the second half when Galvin was injected into the game.
Sexton has been named at halfback for Thursday night’s blockbuster clash with the Panthers but you have to wonder if rival clubs will be watching closely to see how he is used.
Another positional switch midgame could be enough for another club to swoop in and grab him immediately.

REED MAHONEY
Similarly to Sexton, Reed Mahoney could be the domino that falls following Galvin’s arrival to the Bulldogs.
Mahoney was already under the microscope well before Galvin signed with many pundits criticising his ill-discipline.
But speculation around Mahoney’s future really heated up when he was benched in that same King’s birthday clash so that Sexton — who is not a hooker — could shift to dummy-half and Galvin could play halfback.
Mahoney’s disappointment post-game in the sheds was caught on camera, only adding more fuel to the fire. And the fact the club has given him permission to talk to rivals despite being contracted until the end of 2026 suggests he is headed towards an early exit.
Whether a rival club will make a move on the 27-year-old before the June 30 deadline remains to be seen.

ZYON MAIU’U
Still on the Bulldogs, there’s been reports doing the rounds this week that Zyon Maiu’u could exit Belmore without playing a single NRL game for the club.
Maiu’u signed a two-year deal with the Bulldogs in February but it’s understood he hasn’t settled into the system as quickly as club officials had hoped.
The 21-year-old arrived to the Dogs in the pre-season with big raps after coming through the Warriors’ system to make his NRL debut last year.
However, the 106kg prop is sitting behind the likes of Max King, Daniel Suluka-Fifita, Josh Curran, Sam Hughes and Lipoi Hopoi. He’s also struggled to cement a starting spot in the NSW Cup side and played just 13 minutes off the bench last week.
