The Eels’ win over the Titans has been soured with two key players set for stints on the sideline after being charged by the Match Review Committee.
Centre Will Penisini has been hit with a grade two dangerous throw charge, which carries a three-week suspension with an early guilty plea or four weeks if he chooses to fight the charge at the judiciary and fails.

The incident occurred in the final minute of the game when Penisini lifted Titans forward Beau Fermor over the horizontal in a tackle. Thankfully Fermor landed on his shoulder, however Penisini was sin-binned for the tackle with referee Gerard Sutton saying it was “very dangerous and high risk of injury.”
The Eels are also set to be without Ryley Smith for this week’s clash with the Dragons with the workhorse hooker also being charged with a grade two dangerous throw. Given it is his first offence Smith is facing a two-week ban with an early guilty plea or three weeks if he chooses to fight it and fails.
The tackle occurred in the 62nd minute on Phillip Sami, who was already being tackled by two other Eels players before Smith entered and lifted his legs. 22-year-old Smith, who apologised profusely to Sami, was placed on report but spared the sin bin.
Meanwhile, Cowboys utility Karl Lawton is set to miss two weeks for a dangerous tackle on Siua Wong, who has suffered an MCL injury as a result of the contact.

Lawton was the third man in on a tackle on Siua Wong and his contact on the legs left the Roosters second-rower clutching at his knee before then leaving the field.
And the Panthers are set to be without Scott Sorensen for their blockbuster clash with the ladder-leading Bulldogs on Thursday night after the Kiwi international was hit with a grade two dangerous contact charge for a hip-drop tackle on Warriors winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak.
The charge carries a two-match suspension with an early guilty plea, or three weeks if he fights it and loses.
Sorensen was also hit with a grade one high tackle charge from the same game but that carries just a monetary fine only.
